James Richard Foster represents clients at Foster & Fuchs, P.A., in civil litigation, personal injury, probate litigation, business and commercial disputes, insurance coverage, and risk management matters, appearing in state and federal courts throughout Florida. He is a fourth-generation attorney who was born and raised in Palm Beach County.
Before joining Foster & Fuchs, James was a Partner at a national civil defense firm, where he represented clients in both state and federal courts. During this tenure, James secured numerous dismissals, summary judgments, and favorable trial verdicts on behalf of a diverse client base. His work covered case assessment, written discovery and depositions, dispositive and evidentiary motion practice, mediations, and trials, for a client base that included nationally and internationally recognized corporations, nonprofit and governmental organizations, and insurance carriers.
While in law school, James served as President of the Moot Court Society and competed on both trial and moot court teams. He earned numerous honors, including first place out of 112 competitors in the Feinrider Moot Court Competition, Best Advocate in the Hon. E. Earle Zehmer Mock Trial Competition, and Regional Champion and National Semifinalist in the ABA NAAC Moot Court Competition. His article on the impact of technology on mental health placed second in the American College of Legal Medicine’s Hirsch Writing Competition and was selected for publication.
James earned his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in 2019 and his Bachelor of Science in Criminology, with a minor in Entrepreneurship, from Florida State University in 2015. He was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2020. James is the grandson of founder Robert McK. Foster, Jr., and the son of Partner, John Fenn Foster. He continues the firm’s tradition of service to the local bar and to community organizations.
